I Heart Saturday AND.....outside movie night

It worked out great with a white sheet nailed to the wall - just can't tell with flash photo.

of course we had to have meat pies....."Heavenly!Not as hearty as bishop, perhaps, but then again, not as bland as curate, either!"

Great memory with some awesome teenagers - two of which are off to the mission field and will be missed very much.

puritan picks

We do Netflix and we really love it. I saw this on Tim Challies' twitter and went to check it out.

Puritan Picks - HOW GREAT IS THIS! Christian DVD's (not just "Christian" movies like Fireproof, etc., but cool stuff like "meaty" conferences and lectures by theologians too) available, by mail, like Netflix, for $4.99 per month.

I just signed up to give it a try. Poor family. As if my history documentaries and George Grant DVD's did not bore them enough already. Now I can bring full on theology packed conferences to my home!

ET came home

Oh Joy! I almost cried. My beloved stuffed ET has been found! I was up in the rafters putting the Easter baskets away when I spotted him. I thought for sure he had never made it after our last move. I bought him at the mall when the movie was still in theaters (1985). It is silly the number of times I have thought about it.

The last I remember seeing it was Nate (now 15) sitting in the shopping cart seat holding ET through a grocery store. Almost every shopper stopped us asking "is that ET?", "where did you get him?" or "I loved that movie!"

I clearly remember, I was 16, my mom was making her bed at our old house in Orange County. She was crying. I asked her what was the matter and was she ok? She said (sobbing) "oh, I am fine, it's just that I cannot stop thinking about ET!"

October Scary Movie Nights

This past Friday night began our October Friday scary movie night

LOVE this movie! I remember telling Jessica that Angela Lansbury was in this movie - and she said she did not think so. Well, she is right. No Angela. All the kids enjoyed the movie - perfect start for Bria.
Im looking now for any suggestions - anyone have an idea of a good family friendly scary movie?

Summer Movie Night - Part 2

Such wonderful music in this movie! We thought we would have to watch it over two nights, but the kids wanted to see the second part (after intermission and hot chocolate break) because they were enjoying it so much. Got to love the kids singing around the house the next day "matchmaker, matchmaker bring me a match...." and "if I were a rich man...yadda..." Really great time!

American Girl Movie Date

Bria and I got together with good girlfriends and had a fun time watching the Amercian Girl movie featuring Kit Kittredge. After the movie we had lunch at The Counter, a new hamburger spot that is so creative and yummy!

Summer Movie Night - Part 1

We love movies. We watch a lot of movies. We have made a list of movies we want to watch during our summer break. Most we have seen before, are classics and are very long. Tonight we watched the first on our list - King Kong.

We did not watch the classic, since we liked Mr. Jackson's recent one so much. Movie night dinner featured French Bread Pizza's. The kids put on their own toppings, i.e. pineapple, ham, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, after I had put on the olive oil and garlic. They were yummy.
